When we started feeding the cats at the bins on the main road in Karoumbatika (to Pelekas) they lived under horrible conditions and nobody seemed to care. They were even more thursty than hungry.

We decided to clean the place, to make their lives a bit more comfortable, trying to catch them later for medical care and neutering.

There were about 7 cats, two of them had their babies hidden on the other side of the road. Too young to cross the road at this point but obviously it would be get a problem. We saw a few but they were so scared and shy that we had to be patient to get them caught later. Unfortunately two of them were killed by car while crossing the road. We could save all kittens from one of one mother cat and two of the other after a few weeks.

Meanwhile we built up a few shelter and feeding places and the cats came nearer and nearer and we got them all neutered.

When we just finished a „roof“ for the feeding place at the bins in Karoubatika appeared a shouting woman of the neighbourhood telling me it would be her property amd I have to remove amd destroy all the small shelter places. Otherwise she takes me to the court. She could not calm down and didn’t stop shouting for about 20 minutes.

No shelter anymore…
but not for long….we started again and will keep on making their lives better and better!

One morning we found three abandoned kittens, hungry and scared at the bins – now they are safe and healthy!
