Kitten Life at the bins

Attention

Well intentioned but dangerous

Please feed in bowls!

Never put food directly on the ground, because hard surfaces can damage cats’ teeth. The most common problem we see in outdoor cats is broken teeth due to eating off hard surfaces. This is not only extremely painful, but it also causes the cats to eventually become unable to eat. Feed cats in a sturdy bowl in a discrete location. If that isn’t possible, Put the food only on soft ground, but never on concrete, pavement or other hard surfaces.

Fish bones

Do not give them bones!

Bones, whether cooked or raw, are not recommended for cats. Small, cooked bones, like poultry bones, can splinter and break while eating, potentially leading to an intestinal blockage or perforation that’s a veterinary emergency. Even raw, these bones can cause intestinal problems and may harbor bacteria that can give your cat a serious infection.

Toxic onions

Onions are extremely toxic for cats!

Onion powder, onion salts, cooked onion and dried onion can all cause serious problems. Even a small bit of onion in broth is harmful, and cats should steer clear of it. It only takes about 5 grams of onion per kilogram of body weight for your cat to start having symptoms. Since onions can be so dangerous and every cat reacts differently, it’s very important to avoid onions altogether.
